The easiest way to update DirectX to the latest version is to use Microsofts own “DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer”. If you are already up to date then the installer will detect this and take no action, so it can’t hurt to give it a try. This update may be applicable no matter what version of Windows you are running, or what version of DirectX your PC supports.
Updating DirectX can improve gaming performance and stability, though most users don’t even realise that it can be updated. DirectX is an important part of Windows if you use multimedia or game software. Although most Windows components update themselves automatically, for some reason to update DirectX you must download and run an updating utility by hand.
